They are coated in a very fine layer of real metal and thus have a delicious, sparkling sheen.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e They are soft, strong and fine (1.5mm), and they stitch effectively directly through the fabric using a no. 24 chenille needle. They can therefore be used to work many surface embroidery stitches, giving them a delicate twinkling quality.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Use them with a laying tool such as a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/hand-made-engraved-stainless-steel-mellor\"\u003emellor\u003c\/a\u003e or \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/aficot\"\u003eaficot\u003c\/a\u003e to encourage them to sit flat and slide smoothly through the fabric. They can also be used for pleating in the same manner as rolled metal ‘plate’ but are much much softer and therefore easier to handle and can be plunged through the fabric to finish at ends.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e I have used them in the feathers of the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/peacock-etui\"\u003ePeacock\u003c\/a\u003e.
