It also takes inspiration from the ingenious three-dimensional and functional embroideries of the 17\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s7\"\u003eth\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ecentury Stuart period.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp class=\"s8\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003eThis project is thus a marriage of techniques and materials inspired by those which were in use in the 17\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s7\"\u003eth\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ecentury (and earlier) with new ideas of my own\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003e. It combines Reticella needlelace with a variety of surface stitches, plus needlelace-covered beads.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp class=\"s8\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003eThe very special étui mould was designed by me and created on a CNC cutter from a digital drawing produced by my cousin Richard Price. It is made to hold the\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s9\"\u003ematching \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/hand-made-sterling-silver-thistle-thimble\"\u003ehand-engraved thimble\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003edesigned and created by my silversmith colleague Adam Mills, plus a tiny pair of\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/etui-scissors-for-the-wrens\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s9\"\u003eétui scissors\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003e.  The mould is made from bamboo to ensure sustainability and accuracy of rendition of the design down to the finest detail. The mould is hand-finished with metal hanging loops and inset magnets for closure.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp class=\"s10\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s6\"\u003eThe design is worked on a base of British pure wool baize which acts as a beautiful matt foil to the sparkling metal threads and suits the Scottish theme, echoing the colours of the heather-clad landscape.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp class=\"s10\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s11\"\u003ePlease note that the reverse of the thistle includes the date 2024 pre-printed on to the fabric. You can add your initials as shown if desired. Please specify your choice of initials in the NOTES when completing your order.
