It is worked on a translucent base of ivory pure silk organza, the seed head thereby appearing to be suspended in space, giving the work a fragile delicacy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The piece is embroidered using techniques and materials from the fields of whitework, shadow work, metal thread work, crewel work and stumpwork. The seed head itself is worked in needlelace using fine silk gimp to give a bold mesh-like structure.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The bracts are worked using applied metallic mesh ribbons, shadow work and surface stitches in fine wools.  The addition of sequins, pearls and seed beads add further richness and sparkle.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e This design is ideal for those with some embroidery experience wishing to explore new ideas.
