{"product_id":"waitlist-pugin-scissor-case-embroidery-kit","title":"Waitlist for Pugin Scissor Case Embroidery Kit","description":"\u003cp\u003eThe Pugin Scissor Case was inspired by the fabulous decorative interiors created in the late 19th Century by Augustus Welby Pugin at Ushaw College, Durham, then the principal Roman Catholic Seminary in the north of England.  Pugin is known as probably the greatest exponent of the Gothic Revival Style which aimed to restore the richness of decoration of the medieval period and its respect and use of traditional handcraft skills, as a stand against the ugliness, grime and mass production of the growing industrial age.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The Pugin Scissor Case is based on the interior of the Lady Chapel, one of the side chapels forming part of the St Cuthbert’s chapel complex at Ushaw.  Its intricate floral wall friezes, embellishing every surface, combine cool jade greens, soft coral pinks and celandine yellows with glittering gold leaf, and create the sense of walking into a flower garden.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e These soft floral designs are contrasted by bold bands of geometric patterning in blues, greens and creams. The scissor case takes the Tudor rose as the central focus, worked in natural shading using fine wools, combined with satin stitch in copper metal thread and a richly decorated centre using pleated tape, quilling, pearls, spangles and tubular metal purls.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e This is combined with the yellow flower and leaves using applied wool flannel with silk satin stitch, pleated tape and delicate embellishments in beads, purl and spangles.
