{"product_id":"waitlist-the-fantail-piwakawaka-tui","title":"Waitlist for The Fantail (Piwakawaka) Étui","description":"\u003cp\u003eI have had the idea to create a Piwakawaka needlework étui to add to my collection of three-dimensional embroidered birds since my first visit to New Zealand in 2014. Whilst exploring the country, we were delighted to discover these magical little birds flitting around us on many walks.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The design is based on the fantail’s colouring and feather patterns but is also inspired by the national plant of New Zealand, the silver fern, includes the Māori symbol of the fern the Koru and suggests Māori face tattoos. The fantail is cherished very dearly by all New Zealanders and features in Māori legends.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e It is a symbol of joy, happiness, change and good things to come. The bird’s boundless energy inspires strength, motivation and willingness to take on new challenges.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e In this spirit, the fantail has a purpose as an étui as well as being decorative. The bird has a blade in his cast bronze beak, for cutting threads.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The tail encloses channels filled with felted wool which then hold a set of numbered needles. The wool lining beneath the wings can also hold further needles.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The body of the fantail is 3D printed and the legs are cast in bronze. The kit includes all the materials, needles and instructions required to complete the fantail.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e A \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/jennyadin-christieembroidery.com\/product\/teaching-video-for-the-fantail-piwakawaka-etui\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003efull set of working videos\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e is also available to purchase for this project.
