These are my absolute favourite scissors for all forms of embroidery. I have tried many, many brands and types over the years but I always come back to these. I have two pairs in my workbox, one I keep for metal threads and one for everything else!
Made by ‘Kai’ in Japan with blades of the finest stainless steel with vanadium, they slide beautifully smoothly and cut precisely to the tip for ultimate control. I find they stand up to continued use for a very long time.
The curved tip allows you to cut threads close to the work safely and without your hand or the scissors digging into the fabric. I find the curved blade, together with the superbly fine cutting edges, gives excellent control and precision when cutting metal threads such as purls.
These are also my favourite scissors for the precision cutting required in fine whitework embroidery and for trimming the edges of three-dimensional embroidered shapes/slips in stumpwork.
(Scissors measure 10cm including handles, and the blades 6.5cm).
