These beautiful hand-bound books are created by the talented Phil Winskill of York Bookbinding, specially for my kits.
Embroidered book covers have been created throughout history and I felt this narrative design suited this application well.
Constructed using traditional hand methods in green Atlantic Bookcloth to match the embroidery, and with gold-foiled spine title, either The Owl and the Pussycat or A Lakeland Odyssey. They include high quality plain paper pages, edged in pure gold leaf, reproduction heritage design end papers and a silk marker ribbon. The Owl and the Pussycat book has a print of the Owl and Pussycat poem inside the front cover.
They also include a conservation safe book-board on to which your completed embroidered panel can be mounted ready to be applied to the front of the book. Full printed instructions for this process are supplied.
Materials for working the Owl and Pussycat design are NOT included with the hand-bound book. A separate kit for working the design is available in the kit shop.

This is such a fantastic idea for framing an embroidery based on a poem. The book is exquisitely made, a real heirloom piece. It gives such inspiration to complete the Owl and the Pussycat kit so both can be displayed as one beautiful work of art. Full instructions for mounting the embroidery and attaching to the book are supplied. All this arrived beautifully wrapped, it was a joy to open.
