Beautifully fine and with a subtle sheen, Soie 100/3 is created by the wonderful Au Ver à Soie in Paris. It is a blend of three strands of silk schappe (combed silk)from the best quality spun silk(called strusas), giving it an unrivalled regularity, lustre and softness. Thus the thread doesn't tangle in the needle, is resistant to abrasion and has a good tensile strength. I love this silk for fine surface embroidery and needlace. It is also superb for smocking, fine counted work and cross stitch, and can be used in a sewing machine, plus many other applications.
