Description
I am endlessly fascinated by the design of threads reels and I just couldn’t resist these beautifully dainty and useful ceramic needle and pin holders by Cohana of Japan.
They are made from ‘Hasami Ware’ which has a history going back 400 years, and has been widely produced since the Edo era.
The spools have been made by Cohana in collaboration with Ishimaru Togei, a company that was founded in 1948 and has their pottery workshop in Hasami. The beautiful spool has an exquisite glaze that brings out its simple texture and a quality that is unique to ceramics that have been fired in low temperatures.
A magnet is built into the spool and catches needles and pins both inside the well at the top and against its sides. This special version of the design contains a beautiful set of special glass-headed pins, in a gift box.
