These are one of my all-time favourite materials! Made in Italy, this is a 6mm smooth, tubular mesh tape, originally intended for use in jewellery, allowing beads to be threaded into the tube and knotted to form necklaces. However, they can also be stretched into fabulous organic wiggly patterns which retain their shape, since the mesh is made from superfine wire. Fabulous for stumpwork as the mesh has the appearance of needlelace without having to make it. There is also a 4mm version of this tape.

And it is superb for metal thread work. It can be used for cloudy skies, bark, rippled water, textured hillocks and fields, edging brooches…..anything your imagination allows! Can be applied using invisible thread or other fine threads, and either ruched and frilled or flat.
